Awhimai graduated from Whitireia Performance Centre in 2014 with a Diploma in Performing Arts (Singing) and a Bachelor in Applied Arts (Performing Arts).
Her theatre credits include: Cinderella in Into The Woods (Fortune Theatre), Mrs Lark in Mary Poppings (Court Theatre), Jane in Jane Eyre the Musical (Whitireia Performance Centre); Red Riding Hood The Pantomime (Circa Theatre); Edwin Drood in The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Circa Theatre) and The Beautiful Ones (Tawata Productions).
Awhimai has been part of Mayoral delegation of New Zealand several times, travelling to China as a Cultural Ambassador, vocally supporting the Mayors with Māori Waiata. She has sung the National Anthem at various international sporting events around New Zealand, has performed with the internationally acclaimed Beatgirls for over three years, and regularly performs with the Modern Maori Quartet.
Awhimai is currently on screen as Chantelle in the TV series Ahikāroa, and Becky in Shortland Street.
